BRAGA, November 24, 2025 — The AI2PI Portuguese Team, Cristina Sylla, Diana Pereira, Eva Fernandes, Orlanda Tavares and Silvia Nunes, organised the workshop “Educating with Artificial Intelligence (AI): Opportunities and Challenges” during the Science and Technology Week 2025.
The workshop critically examined the transformative impact and ethical considerations of AI in education. In alignment with the Erasmus+ Teacher Academy project AI2PI, the event brought together future educators and teachers to address the integration of AI as both an opportunity and a challenge in contemporary educational settings.
Facilitators Eva Fernandes and Daniel Rosa guided approximately 30 prospective educators and teachers in exploring AI's potential and challenges, ethical considerations, and future roles as educators and teachers.
The workshop began with an overview of the AI2PI project's mission, and participants shared their initial perceptions through a live quiz and engaged in activities that contrasted traditional educational approaches with AI-supported solutions. This comparison prompted focused discussion on the educational potential of AI, particularly its role in enhancing problem-solving, collaboration, and creativity. The discussion also emphasised the importance of addressing reliability, ethical considerations, and critical evaluation when integrating AI into educational contexts.
The session concluded with participant reflections that summarised key insights into responsible AI integration and identified essential competencies. These outcomes established a foundation for future collaborative communities of educators focused on AI adoption.
The workshop underscored the core message that urgent preparation of educators and teachers for AI integration in teaching is essential. Through practical exercises and critical reflection, the event emphasised both the transformative potential of AI and the necessity of ethical, reflective implementation.
